Student stories

  • Biological Sciences and Human Biology student, Zoe Mputhia

    Zoe Mputhia

    ECU Biological Sciences

What amazed me is the amount of practical units my course has

I've always been passionate about wildlife and the environment, so I chose to study Biological Sciences at ECU. Before starting my studies, I didn't know how hands on my course would be.

I've participated in a lot of lab work, been able to use modern equipment and even gone on camps as well. The lecturers have been amazing. They are so enthusiastic about the subjects they teach and are extremely knowledgeable.

  • Georgina McGiveron

    Georgina McGiveron

ECU South West Environmental Management & Conservation Biology student

This course has given me so much hope for the future.

Being introduced to different pathways of possible work through guest lectures, online meetings with past graduates and field trips, plus help finding work experience was all valuable. My work experience opportunities as an Environmental Vacation Student, and later as a part-time Environmental Technician at Alcoa, led me to securing a three-year graduate environmental scientist position there, a great outcome for me. This course has given me so much hope for the future.

  • Master of Environmental Science student, Patricia Ngati

    Patricia Ngati

ECU Master of Environmental Science graduate

I was interested in a Masters program that would broaden my view on environmental issues

I was excited to find that ECU offered exactly what I was looking for as the units in the Master of Environmental Science program are multidisciplinary, covering areas ranging from science to business.

The work integrated learning also attracted me to this course as it offers a good platform to transition into the working environment and an opportunity to apply the skills that I will have gained. So far, the course has been amazing!
